Value

Subject to residential eligibility status, the award covers tuition fees, maintenance stipend (the annual maintenance stipend rate in 2017-18 is £14,553) and opportunity to apply for additional funding towards fieldwork and conference costs. Additional disability allowance can be provided where appropriate.

Students opting to study part-time will receive a pro rata maintenance stipend.  

Specified use

Tuition fees, research expense and living allowance subject to eligibility.

Tenable period

Studentships are available on +2, +3 and 1+3 bases for 24-48 months. Part-time studentships are also available. Studentships are made for doctoral study and master's and doctoral study. For taught master's only funding, please see Master's funding website.

Continuation of the award is subject to satisfactory progress.

This award is available to existing postgraduate students.

This award is available to postgraduate research students in year one, applying for funding for years two and three of a PhD.

Eligible applicants must complete and submit the AHRC NWCDTP Application Form by Friday 9th February 2018.

Candidates applying for AHRC NWCDTP funding for PhD Architecture should indicate Art History pathway in the NWCDTP application form. The completed AHRC NWCDTP application form, together with your transcripts and references, must be submitted to pgr-seedfunding@manchester.ac.uk

You must also submit your online application for a place on your chosen PhD programme by Monday 15 th January 2018
