Undergraduate English language requirements
All Undergraduate applicants to the University (from the UK and Overseas) are required to show evidence of English Language proficiency.
Accepted English Language tests
- GCSE/iGCSE English Language grade C/4
- GCSE/iGCSE English as a second language grade B/5
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) OR Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE). Applicants taking either of these from January 2015 onwards are expected to achieve 176 or above
- IELTS 6.5 Overall, with 6.5 in writing and no other sub-section below 6.0
- Pearson Test of English score of 70 or more overall, and no other sub-section below 65
- TOEFL iBT score of 90 or more overall, and no sub-section below 22
- International Baccalaureate English A: Language and Literature at Higher Level grade 6
- International Baccalaureate English A: Language and Literature at Standard Level grade 7
- International Baccalaureate English A: Literature at Higher Level grade 6
- International Baccalaureate English A: Literature at Standard Level grade 7
- International Baccalaureate English B: Literature at Higher Level grade 7
Please note, that International Baccalaureate English B: Literature at Standard Level is not accepted.
