Day events
We host day events and walking tours for students and other interested parties.
These tours focus on the design and development of place. They assist in visualising key urban design principles and terms in the real-world.
Manchester remains the main location for these events. We also offer days in Liverpool, Newcastle, and York.
International study tours
Our MSc Urban Design and International Planning students visit Europe. This allows them to explore urban design in a different context and culture.
We have undertaken study tours to Barcelona, Berlin, and Vienna.
While staying in these cities, we engage with local design practitioners and academics. This allows our students to gain valuable insights into how other places:
- strive towards quality place-making;
- tackle key issues such as urban sprawl, heritage conservation, and climate change.
Showcase
We host our annual showcase in May or June.
This evening event takes place in our design studio at The University of Manchester. We showcase our work and that of our MSc Urban Design and International Planning students.
The event includes a drinks reception. A wide range of design practitioners and stakeholders from across the UK attend.
