Fieldwork is an integral part of studying Geography at the University of Manchester. You’ll have opportunities to get out into the field – urban and rural – right from the start of your degree.
In Year One, Researching Manchester is a course unit designed to introduce you to the main skills you need as a physical and/or human geographer. You will head out into the city and its environs as you examine the social, economic, political and environmental changes affecting the region.
In Year Two, your Overseas Fieldwork course unit will allow you to examine contemporary issues and environments first-hand, and you’ll have the opportunity to acquire practical training and research skills ahead of your dissertation. Current locations include:
- Hong Kong;
- Czech Republic.
